Climbing Kilimanjaro (Marangu Route)

Join a local, certified guide and climb the highest mountain in Africa, located in wild Tanzania, at an altitude of 5,895 m.  Enjoy a 6-day ascent via the Marangu Route and experience rainforest, moorland, Alpine desert, and the glacier capped Arctic Kilimanjaro summit!

The total duration of the tour including arrival and departure will be 8 days, with 6 days of actual climbing. You will meet with your guide at the Kilimanjaro International Airport and you will be transferred to a hotel where you will spend the night and go over a trip briefing. The following day, you will begin the actual climb: after being picked up and transferred to the Marangu Gate in Kilimanjaro National Park, you will begin trekking through the rainforest to your first hut. After a good night’s rest, you will continue on up through a stretch of moorland to your following hut and complete an easygoing acclimatization hike, as well as spend an extra night to continue to acclimatization process. You will set off again the following day, and steadily climb through an Alpine desert to your next hut. Finally, while it’s still nightime, you will head to the Kilimanjaro summit on the most intensive day of the climb. After summiting Kilimanjaro, you will return to the Marangu Gate the following day, and also have one last night in a hotel before departure. 

This program is perfect for explorers who would like to summit the highest mountain in the African continent, but don’t have a lot of previous mountaineering experience. 

The Marangu Route is straightforward and offers comfortable huts to stay in, and acclimatization is properly taken care of in this moderately paced ascent. This is a great high altitude challenge for those that are sufficiently fit and just starting out their mountaineering path as it is very scenic and non-technical. Groups of friends and families can find the perfect adventure in Kilimanjaro. 

The price is €1.583 per person for a group of 3, and it covers the guiding fee, accommodation, meals during the climb, transport during the trip, luggage transfer, permit and entrance fees, group porters, clean drinking water, showers, and group camping gear.

International flights, visa fees, mandatory mountaineering insurance, tips, personal gear rental, and optional portable toilets are not included.
